* NOTES FOR GUIDANCE:

Decorations etc. following the names of Grand Officers or Provincial Grand Officers must always be included on printed Toast Lists, but should not be mentioned when toasts are actually proposed.

The first toast (the Loyal Toast) must always be proposed formally and without any preamble
whatsoever. The Worshipful Commander should ONLY say, THE KING  AND NOTHING ELSE, SUCH AS I HAVE THE HONOUR OF PROPOSING THE FIRST TOAST TO, or THE FIRST TOAST IS TO etc., etc., etc. The response by the Brethren, whether or not the National Anthem is sung, is either THE KING,  THE KING DUKE OF LANCASTER or just THE DUKE OF LANCASTER, any of these three are correct but the latter is the preferred response in this Province.

The Worshipful Commander WILL ALWAYS propose the first (Loyal) toast and generally, within the Province of West Lancashire, he will also propose toasts 2,3 and 4. The Senior Warden of the Lodge will propose toast 5 and the Junior Warden of the Lodge will propose toast 6. However, Lodges whose tradition, custom and practice follow a different format are quite at liberty to continue doing so provided that the W.C. proposes the first toast and the names and titles/ranks of the Brethren to whom toasts are being proposed are correct at the time of use.
